Blue Scholars / Hieroglyphics Seattle may not quite be the South Bronx, but it's spawning a fresh, multicultural hip-hop scene led by this politically minded, old-school-flavored duo. Journey Arnel Pineda is the reason to check out this hard-rock nostalgia trip. The Filipino singer, whom guitarist Neal Schon discovered on the Internet, is a fiercer singer than Steve Perry, and this summer's most joyful showman. OMG....OMG....OMFG!!!

I wasn't in the concert but my brother was and I didn't even know!!!
Got his text message few seconds ago. It says: Ta, mao pa juy pagkahuman sa concert sa journey. Super jud si Arnel. Sold out. Daghang tawo. Kumusta man pod ka diha...
Translation (roughly): Ta, Journey concert had just finished. Arnel is really SUPER. Sold out. Too many people. How are you there?
My brother is a priest who's been in LA now for quite a few years. I've been forwarding reviews about Arnel to him and I didn't even get a single reply and now he's telling me he went to the concert???
I don't know whether to laugh or cry!!!

I was amazed to hear Arnel's voice in concert! After playing a long set they finished with Faithfully and his voice still sounded great!. I've never heard an audience cheer so loud and seen so many fans as pumped up as I did tonight! What a great show, I was worried that Arnel's voice might not be as fresh since this is a back to back concert from San diego last night. I'm going to see if I can get tickets to the Madalay Bay show on Friday and the Greek theater in september. Journey IS BACK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Just came home from the concert....OMG! What a great show! Arnel was amazing!!! Neal, Jonathan, Ross and Deen were all great too! I was waiting for Deen to sing Mother/Father but I guess it wasn't part of their repertoire tonight. But still it was the best show ever! Thank you Journey for including Irvine in your tour. This is one experience I will never forget! I hope to catch your other shows pretty soon! Journey Rocks!!!!

Journey gave 100% tonight in Irvine. Arnel lived up to all the accolades, but more importantly, the band was completely in-sync. The music just flowed. Thank you Journey. Come back to Orange County again soon!

Just got back from the concert and it was awesome! Arnel really has a powerful voice and he nailed all the high notes. They played I think 4 new songs from Revelation with a very good response from the audience especially After All These Years. I was really hoping to hear TDTWT but it didn't happen. I'm still very happy though cuz they played Ask The Lonely, Escape, BGTY and those are my favorite songs and I got to sing and dance like crazy and of course DSB and Faithfully.
I saw Ryan Coyle there, we were in the same row but he was seated towards the middle so I didn't get to say hello. Anyway, I had a great nite. Journey fans are amazing. By the way, I saw children and teenagers at the concert so we have the next generation of Journey fans.

Irvine is the best concert so far. Unbelievable performance by Arnel. He gave this one 100% full throttle and the best audience I have ever experienced. Perfect sound, perfect settings, perfect performance from all the band members and perfect voice, moves and connection with the audience by Arnel. He looked very good, seductive, powerful, energetic and a rock star model with his wardrobe - white pants and very nice black and red embroidered designer shirt. Audience of all ages loved him and the band really enjoyed every second of the performance.
I was at Denver, Walmart show, San Diego but Irvine is the best show ever so far! Great job guys and thank you for this perfection!

Wow, what a performance from Arnel and the whole band in Irvine tonight! Totally flowed through each hit and even the new stuff belonged in the show. The only thing that didn't click was the crowd's indifference when Arnel asked how we liked that after certain songs. But considering how nonstop the rockin' was, this is only a minor quibble. If the band sticks with this amazing singer for a while, his repoire with the crowd might come close to equalling his energy and endurance onstage.

JOURNEY ROCKED!!! Arnel Pineda was sooooo good considering that they just came from the san diego concert last night!!!! awesome night!!! people of all ages were there!!! the place was jampacked!! tickets were sold-out and we passed by a lot of people outside the entrance asking us if we had extra tickets!!!! Filipino fans were there 1000% to support their very own Arnel!!!!we LOOOOOOVE you Arnel!!! we LOOOOVE you Journey! and yeah come back to OC again!!!

I just got back from the concert in Irvine...it's sold out alright, just by the amount of people on a Wednesday evening! My hsuband and friends who came with us took Thursday off just because of Journey concert! When Cheap Trick started their gig, the place was 50% filled..and people still pouring...not much sign of energy from crowd..they were ok..Heart sounded great..but the crowd started to pump up a little half way of their time...But before even Journey came out, the energy was already ready to explode...the crowd was cheering and almost all standing as the band appeared. It just felt so good to see that many came for Journey. I was surprised to see that many generation Y's came to the concert.and 30 and plus..all generations...It seems that many young generations(20's) are becoming Journey fans...A guy in his 20's stopped me and my friend asked me what songs I knew from Journey's Revelation...I said from the new ones, What it takes to Win & What I Needed.and from Re-recorded, Separate Ways and DSB..he was ready to hug me but changed me to a high five instead...I was soooo excited when Journey started playing...My 7 year old son asked me, When is journey going to play?" His favourite song is DSB...Journey was fantastic!! Neal, Val, Dean, & Jonathan & Arnel were just superb..They looked so handsome...Heart and Cheap Trick were great but Journey was the best..Journey's songs and melody are just so soulful to my heart..that i can feel and enjoy them with emotions..it's addictive...My first time to see Arnel perform..it's a WOW! His voice is extraordinary..different variations and sets of pipes..from low to high..from crisp to rasp..I am mesmerized and falling in love !! What I like about Journey tonight was that Arnel stage presence and moves with his mics,jumps, twirls..and fists...gave some energy and entertainment...i felt like I was in a "real" rock concert...Journey Rocks!! The showmanship of Journey helped to get the crowd elevated...I like the fact that Journey still bow to the audience at the end...it's so professional...i was hoping that Journey would play What it takes to Win..but I wonder why it's never played in any of the tours...I am going to attend another Journey concert again..because I'm fallin in love with you all!!!thank you for the wonderful music that you write, play and share....

Amazing!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Just got back from Irvine concert. This is a must see Concert. The boys look really really tired specially Arnel, what an amazing voice. Their schedule is very tight, and i am really worried with Arnel's voice, I hope the Journey Management is taking care of Arnel. He is dealing with different environment, weather, fans etc etc in every city.
He looked very tired and stressed but still he delivered and hitting those high notes.
Awesome guy.
Neal, Deen, Jon Ross you guys are unbelievable on stage.
Arnel, you belong to this "Great Band". Stay healthy and strong!!

thanks for sharing your insights..yeah, i think there are many still who are still trying to familiarize themselves with the new lead singer...and in time, I believe that the crowd will explode with Arnel's energy and voice... we now know that he's got the voice that rocks...and the rest wll be history with time....
